S4E17: Home Grown: Nothing to do, but stay OK

What if you grew up and were proud of where you come from? That's what Sterlin Harjo apparently conveys to other Native Americans and non-Natives, as he extends his hand for a firm shake, then when you pass the sniff test, he proceeds to pull you in closer for a big hug and whispers, "welcome home, again."

Shared meaning is what Harjo has accomplished in his life as an artist. Without any exceptions, Harjo cares how people perceive his stories on film and elsewhere. There is both courage and compassion running straight through each storyline he follows through without ever wrapping it up in a nice and neat, well packaged "The End." Instead, Harjo humbly passes the storyline on to his audiences and trusts them to do likewise - no matter what just keep going home.

Sterlin Harjo is of Seminole and Muscogee descent, and he is a citizen of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. His work often reflects the culture and experiences of Native Americans, particularly those in Oklahoma.
